Discogs Wantlist Helper privacy policy

Last updated: November 9, 2025

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how the Discogs Wantlist Helper Chrome Extension (“the Extension”) handles user information. We take your privacy seriously and are committed to protecting your data.

2. Data Collection

The Extension does not collect, store, or share any personal data such as names, email addresses, or browsing history.

The Extension only uses:

  • chrome.storage.local to locally save user preferences and data;
  • chrome.storage.identity to initiate a login with Discogs;
  • • requests to the Discogs API (https://api.discogs.com/) to retrieve release or artist information.

No information from these operations is transmitted to any third-party server other than Discogs.

3. Permissions Used

The Extension only requests the permissions strictly necessary for it to function:

  • Chrome storage API to locally save user preferences and data;
  • Chrome identity API to initiate a login with Discogs;
  • https://api.discogs.com/ to fetch information from the Discogs public API.

4. Data Sharing

The Extension does not share any user data with third parties. Use of the Discogs API is subject to the Discogs Privacy Policy.

5. Cookies and Tracking

The Extension does not set cookies or perform any analytics or tracking of user activity.

The Extension communicates with the Discogs API through a secure HTTPS connection to our server. OAuth tokens are transmitted in order to authenticate user actions but are not stored, logged, or shared with any third party. Tokens are used only during the active session to perform user-authorized API requests.

6. External Links

The Extension includes a link to buymeacoffee.com/jeanguillet to allow users to support the project. This link is purely optional and not a paywall to unlock any feature. This link opens in a new browser tab and does not transmit any user data whatsoever.

7. Data Security

All data managed by the Extension is stored locally on your device. No data is sent to any private or third-party servers. You can remove all stored data at any time by uninstalling the Extension or clearing your browser’s local storage.

8. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated to reflect technical or legal changes. The most recent version and update date will always be displayed at the top of this document.
